Morris County, CCM, and Morris Votech Partnering to Create Career and Educational Opportunities

On Friday, August 13, the Morris County Board of Commissioners joined with County College of Morris (CCM) President Anthony Iacono to announce plans for the establishment of a new Morris County Vocational School District (MCVSD) Career Technical Education Center and plans for a new CCM Entrepreneurship and Culinary Science Center. The new facilities will be built on the CCM campus near the school’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center.

The centers are designed to provide students and continuing education seekers with access to cutting-edge technical programs that can provide them with the specialized skills required to meet current and future industry standards.

Plans for the MCVSD Career Technical Education Center were developed based on the education skills and training in demand in the county and state. The total cost for the center is estimated to be $24.8 million and will be covered by the state and county. The project will add 500 students to Morris County Vocational School District’s enrollment and will offer students industry credentials, work-based and project-based learning opportunities, and up to 18 college credits.

Plans for CCM’s Entrepreneurship and Culinary Science Center were developed in response to the business and community leaders in Morris County looking to accelerate entrepreneurial growth in the area. The estimated cost of the Entrepreneurship and Culinary Science Center is $5.3 million. Students enrolled in entrepreneurship and culinary programs will have the opportunity to work with industry professionals with experience in entrepreneurship. The new program includes a business degree option focused on entrepreneurship and certificates in hospitality management, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain management. The center will allow CCM and MCVSD to develop a dual enrollment program for high school students interested in earning college credits towards a business degree.
