Business Spotlight: Back Home Safely

Back Home Safely, located at 111 Canfield Avenue, Unit B10 in Randolph, has been helping New Jersey residents live safely and independently in their homes for nearly two decades. The company specializes in home modifications for individuals with mobility challenges. Founded by Gregg and Karen Frank—Gregg an Occupational Therapist and Karen a Physical Therapist—along with North Jersey Health Ventures, the business grew out of their shared experience seeing patients struggle to return home safely after illness or injury. They recognized the need for therapists to take an active role in modifying homes to prevent falls and promote independence.

Back Home Safely offers free home safety assessments performed by licensed therapists who evaluate each client’s specific needs and recommend practical solutions. Their in-house team of skilled carpenters and technicians completes all installations, including stairlifts, ramps, grab bars, stair rails, bathroom modifications, lift recliners, adjustable beds, and other accessibility equipment. With 22 employees, the company manages all aspects of the process from assessment through installation. Their Randolph facility houses a Solutions Showroom, warehouse, and administrative offices to support efficient service delivery.

In its 18 years of operation, Back Home Safely has completed projects for more than 10,000 families across New Jersey. “People often come to us during a crisis,” says co-owner Karen Frank. “We help them make their homes safe enough to return to after a medical event, and that makes a real difference in their lives.” The company’s work focuses on preventing falls and ensuring that residents can continue to live in their homes safely and comfortably.

In addition to working with homeowners, Back Home Safely provides education to therapists, social workers, and case managers on home modification and fall prevention. The business is a member of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and has received the H.E.R.O.E.S. Award from Atlantic Health Systems for its community contributions. Gregg and Karen attribute the company’s success to strong customer service, fast turnaround, and expertise in both therapy and construction.
